About the Charity:

It is easy to forget in the midst of our busy lives that there are children and adults for whom life is isolating, frightening and dominated by their disability.  It means a loss of independence and a severe reduction in quality of life, sometimes overnight where people come to rely completely on partners, children or carers. Our charity is there to support those who so desperately need our help.

Support Dogs is a national charity dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children and adults living with some of the most challenging medical conditions. We train specialist assistance dogs that allow our clients to live a more independent and socially inclusive life. We currently have three different programmes for which our support dogs are trained: autism assistance, physical disability assistance, and epilepsy seizure alert.

From keeping children calm and safe, to alerting their owners prior to an oncoming epileptic seizure, from raising the alarm in emergencies to helping open doors and helping to get dressed in the morning, our support dogs transform the lives.

Support Dogs receives no government funding and relies solely on voluntary donations. Last year we received nearly 4000 requests, which shows how in demand our services are. We provide our services entirely free of charge and our work saves the NHS an estimated £19 million every year.
